HOW TO COMPOST CLASS SCHEDULED FOR APRIL 25

LAKEWOOD – Ocean County is offering a free “how to” compost class on Saturday, April 25 at the Ocean County Recycling Education Center.

“We encourage our residents to sign up for this beneficial class,” said Freeholder James F. Lacey, who serves as liaison to the county’s award winning recycling programs. “Learning how to compost is a great way to recycle organic waste from your kitchen and your yard that could very well end up in a trash can.

“Composting gives these items a new life and one that can be used for gardens and plantings,” Lacey said.

The class, which begins promptly at 10:30 a.m., rain or shine, is sponsored by the Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Ocean County Department of Solid Waste Management.

Participants are asked to be at the education center located at the Ocean County Northern Recycling Center at the end of Towbin Avenue, here, by 10 a.m.

Registration is required for the class and can be made by contacting Kathleen Avery, assistant district recycling coordinator for Ocean County, at 732-506-5047.

The class runs about an hour and a half and is limited to 35 participants.
