VICARI JOINS LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS FOR A DAY OF FUN AND REFLECTION AT BREAKWATER BEACH’S ANNUAL SURVIVORS DAY
SAYING HE COULD never truly understand their pain, but can “pay tribute to their bravery,” Ocean County Freeholder
Joseph H. Vicari honored the surviving families of slain law enforcement officers in Seaside Heights.
“It is a great honor for me to meet with the many families who have lost a loved one in the line of duty,” Vicari
said. While we will never forget the tragic circumstances that brought us all together, today is a day of fun for everyone
in beautiful Ocean County.”
The Storino Family, owners of Jenkinson’s Breakwater Beach Waterpark and the Casino Pier have invited more than
275 family members of officers killed in the line of duty for a complimentary day of fun at the beach.
Family members splashed and swam through the sprawling water park as temperatures climbed into the 80s.
Vicari joined Ocean County Prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford, state Attorney General Anne Milgram and dozens of police
officers in paying tribute to the families.
“Police officers depend on their fellow officers, they depend on their training, but most of all, they depend on
their families,” Vicari said. “You were always there for them, and like those brave officers, you too have made a
difference.”
Vicari also thanked the Storino Family for opening up their park to the families.
“This will be a day to remember the good times all of these families shared with their brave sons and daughters, brothers
and sisters and mothers and fathers. I hope everyone can enjoy the day knowing their loved ones helped make our state a
better and safer place for all of us.”
