OCEAN COUNTY CELEBRATES INDIA’S INDEPENDENCE DAY
TOMS RIVER – The Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders will host the twelfth annual Indian Flag Raising
Ceremony at noon on Friday, August 14, at the Ocean County Administration Building, 101 Hooper Avenue, here.
The ceremony, sponsored by the Asian Indian Association of Central Jersey, marks the 62nd anniversary of the
Proclamation of Independence of India, which took place in New Delhi, India on August 15, 1947.
“We welcome all residents to attend the flag raising ceremony observing India’s Independence Day here in Ocean
County,” commented Freeholder Director, John C. Bartlett Jr. “This ceremony is an opportunity to recognize contributions
made by our residents of Indian decent.”
Youth members will perform a “Cultural Faire” Dance, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard will
be in attendance, as well as representatives from the Asian Indian Association of Central Jersey.
