Free Social Media
Session at Library
TOMS RIVER -- If Twitter, Linked-in, Facebook and blogs are new and confusing words and not yet part of your vocabulary,
business people, organization representatives and individuals might want to attend a session on Social Networking on
June 30 at the Toms River Branch of the Ocean County Library at 6:30 pm.
In hopes if demystifying the social networking process Principal Librarian, Glynis Wray, and Senior Librarian, Nancy
Marino, will provide an overview of popular networking sites. They will demonstrate how people interact and exchange
information by using Facebook, Twitter, and the other sites. Topics will explain the jargon, talk about the pros and
cons of major social networking sites and show attendees how businesses and organizations use them for marketing and
promotional purposes. The introductory session is ideal for those who may have heard about social networking but are
not quite sure what it is or if it is something they would find useful. It is cosponsored by Ocean County Public
Affairs Department and the Ocean County Library.
Those attending will have an opportunity to indicate which topics they would like to explore in greater depth at
computer workshops to be scheduled at a later date in the library where they will learn basic skills. All sessions are
free. Register at 732-349-6200 or www.theoceancountylibrary.org.
Freeholder Joseph H. Vicari, who serves a library liaison said, "Technology is changing the way we communicate. While
we should not forsake our traditional media efforts, social media is just one more tool to add to our communication's
arsenal, and it is a very powerful and inexpensive one.
